Practical guides from a lifetime in motorsport

Hi, I'm Philip Jackson - welcome to my blog.
My motorsport story began at 19, when a friend suggested we ride our newly bought (very second-hand) motorcycles up to watch our local road race. Little did I know it was one of the fastest road races in the world - and on a very wet August day at 'The Ulster Grand Prix', a passion for speed was ignited and a career in motorsport became inevitable.
Once you're bitten by the motorsport bug, you're drawn into a world of speed, friendship, hard work, long nights - and some of the best times of your life!
How to set faster times
At the start of my career, Northern Ireland's leading motorsport scrutineer gave me the soundest advice I've ever had. We asked how to set faster times when we started rallying, and his answer was: 'First of all, to go faster, make sure your car stops well!'
He was right. A car that handles well and stops well is the surest way to improve both your safety and your speed - and that practical, safety-first thinking runs through every guide on this site.

In this article, we’ll explore the importance of car servicing and why it should be a priority for every car owner.

Lowering springs are often used to replace stock springs in a bid to lower the chassis height of the car. It’s important to use the highest quality lowering springs. The perks of this simple little coil are endless. Lowering springs improve the handling of your car while also reducing air resistance and the risk of body roll - all of which leads to a more comfortable, economic ride. What's more, lowering springs are a very cheap and easy way to vastly improve the look and feel of your car. There are a huge variety available, and they can be bought in sets. They come in two basic types – progressive and linear – and with varying ‘spring rates’. However, do use lowering springs with caution. Make sure your suspension is well set up before you fit them, and be aware that lower cars are better suited to smooth roads as opposed to bumpy tracks.

An Air Fryer is a small countertop convection oven designed to simulate deep frying without submerging the food in oil. A fan circulates hot air at a high speed, producing a crisp layer via browning reactions such as the Maillard reaction. Some product reviewers find that regular convection ovens or convection toaster ovens produce better results, or say that air frying is essentially the same as convection baking. It can reheat previously cooked foods and frozen foods.
